A classically trained pianist, Sam Jackson is a prize winning composer, sound designer and producer of original music for TV, Film and Theatre. He frequently composes for Tony Award winning director, Garry Hynes (Druid Theatre) and tours as keyboard player for Moya Brennan of Clannad. His critically acclaimed compositional work has featured in award winning major productions around the world from Broadway to London, Tokyo and Ireland. As a performer, he has appeared on numerous albums and played across most of Europe, Canada and the USA. His debut album, Sharp & Flat was released in September 2012 to 4 star rave reviews, extensive national airplay and a successful national tour.

His compositions feature classical, jazz, contemporary & traditional music, new technology and electronica. He regularly works with musicians from diverse disciplines and has produced critically acclaimed music for theatre, documentary, film and performance art. While studying in Dublin he was winner of the Walton Memorial Ensemble Prize 2001 with Eilish Keogh, The Walton Memorial Scholarship that same year and the Roland Piano Prize 1999. He has received a FETAC in Music Technology and his work was part of the Irish National Exhibition for The Prague Quadrennial Exhibition of Sceneography 2007. Studied Audio Mastering Techniques with Jonathan Wyner -Berklee College of Music.

July - August 2007 - Lizzie Lavelle and the Vanishing of Emlyclough by Tom Swift Music and sound design for The Performance Corporation production of site-specific theatre piece. Performed in a natural amphitheatre in the sand dunes of Belmullet. Pieces for piano, strings and percussion. Featured a soundscape broadcast to radios marking the route towards the amphitheatre.

November 2005 - Mighty Talk: A Journey with DruidSynge. Music accompanying the documentary charting the work of Druid Theatre Company's groundbreaking theatre work DruidSynge. August 2005 - The Yokohama Delegation by Tom Swift. Music written for the Performance Corporation production performed at the Kilkenny Arts Festival. Strange retro futuristic site specific theatre piece loosely based on Jason and the Argonauts. Directed by Jo Mangan, written by Tom Swift. Retro 50's samples combined with contemporary sounds, keyboard madness and choir.

May 2005 - July 2006 - DruidSynge. Music written for Druid theatre Company production of the entire cannon of J.M Synges theatre work. Riders to the Sea, the Tinkers Wedding, the Well of the Saints, In the Shadow of the Glen, Playboy of the Western World, Dierdre of the Sorrows. Performed at Galway Arts Festival, Dublin, Edinburgh International Festival and Inis Meáin 2005 (music performed live); Minneapolis & Lincoln Center Festival New York 2006. Pieces for Piano, String ensemble, flute, whistle, voice and bodhrán. "One of the greatest achievments in the history of Irish Theatre." -Irish Times.

January 2005 - The Playboy of the Western World. Music written for Druid Theatre Company production performed at the Perth Arts Festival in February 2005. Pieces for Piano, string ensemble and bodhrán.

July - August 2004 - The Tinkers Wedding and The Well of the Saints. Music written for Druid Theatre company's 2004 production of these Synge plays. Pieces for Piano, Cello and Low Whistle. "Sam Jackson's episodic music is gorgeous" – Irish Examiner. Pieces for Choir, Fiddle, percussion and piano.

August 2003 - Entertainment by Alex Johnston. Sound design for Bedrock Theatre Company's' production performed at the Project Arts Space, Temple Bar.

May 2003 - Boy Gets Girl by Rebecca Gilman. Original music and sound design composed for About Face Theatre Company. Performed at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.

April 2003 - The Song. Written for Quartet and Soprano, words by Kevin Magee. Performed live at The Project Arts Space, Temple Bar.

March 2003 - Lysistrata. Music accompanying an adapted 45 minute Version of the Greek comedy for the Lysistrata Project. Voices, piano, bass and percussion.Performed live in the Project Arts Space, Temple Bar.

January 2003 - Go. Now. Syncopated and agitated piece for Violin , piano and percussion.

September 2002 - Twelfth Night. Music written for Natural Shocks Theatre Company.Performed in The Dublin Fringe Festival at The Crypt, Dublin Castle. Piano, voice and percussive effects performed live. "Original music performed by Sam Jackson with a delicate touch and a dower expression was a highlight" - The Sunday Business Post.

August 2002 & May 2003 - The Murder Ballads, a Tanztheater Cabaret. A collection of original composition, sound design and song arrangements for the Killkenny Arts Festival 2002, loosely based on the Caryl Churchill play, The Lives of the Great Poisoners. Performed live. Directed and choreographed Finola Cronin. Performed live onsite in Kilkenny and Project Arts Space. April 2002 - Vagina Workshop. One of the Vagina Monologues with an underlay of cello & piano performed live.

February 2002 - The Ubu Ensemble. Sound design for A. Jarrys' Ubu Cocu. Used only the voices of the cast to generate sounds each based on a letter of the alphabet. Employed by DIT Bolton Street Dramatic society. Performed at Theatre Space.

February 2002 - Stereo. Song commissioned by Lynn Henderson. For voice, piano and bass.

September 2001 - Unduly. Commissioned by Edel Pierce, Fullbright Scholar in Dance, for a recital in Philadelphia. Solo Piano (6mins)
